Why is Natural Skincare better?

In the next week, I'll be exploring why using natural skincare products could be better than using traditional offf-the-shelf cosmetics and skincare.

The skin is the largest organ in the body. It is your protective layer against environmental damage, but that doesn’t mean it’s impenetrable armour. The skin is your immune defence and body temperature regulator, but it absorbs as well as excretes. This is why you should be mindful of what it’s being exposed to. Your body will excrete and expel toxins through sweat, tears and mucus, but it will also quickly absorb matter placed in contact with it.

The Langerhans cells (in the epidermis) are your defence cells. Shaped like little starfish with tentacles, they grab on to bacteria that are a threat, BUT they deliver them inside your body, to the lymph glands for elimination.

In the next installment we'll look at how your skin functions and why the things you put on it can have some short or long-term effects on your health.
